- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Wei Wuxian thinks twice about offering Lan Wangji his Emperor's Smile, remembering that the latter is nonsensical enough to graffiti the wall with his sword and hunt down animals (both against clan rules) while drunk.
- Flashback Echo: When Wei Wuxian receives loquats from a woman because of his good looks, he's reminded of when the same thing happened to him while he was studying at the Cloud Recesses.
- Instantly Proven Wrong: Wei Wuxian makes a poetic comment about seeing attractive men along with the nice view, but when the men in his view turn around they're revealed to be scrubby-looking guys. Luckily, he realizes that he still has the handsome Lan Wangji next to him.
- Mythology Gag: The episode references the time when Wei Wuxian received loquats and nagged Lan Wangji about the Gusu dialect after dealing with the Waterborne Abyss in the main Animated Adaptation and novel.
- Lost in Translation: The Gusu dialect (Suizhou dialect in real life) comes up, with both the loquat seller and Lan Wangji speaking it. Any viewers who aren't familiar with Chinese are unlikely to notice it until Wei Wuxian comments on how pretty the dialect is, since the official English subtitles don't give any indication that the two aren't speaking in standard Chinese.
- Watching the Sunset: The protagonists watch the sunset while relaxing on a boat.
