Having broken his V-Cube gaming console, Timmy joins Dimmsdale's local winless basketball team, the Ball Hogs, to get some money to buy a new one (as his dad would be suspicious if he wished it fixed), and gives them a lesson in sharing. Timmy must help them win the season or else they’ll be relocated to Alaska.
This episode contains examples of:
- Artistic License – Sports: At one point, Timmy dumps a series of balls into a hoop one after the other, scoring for the Ballhogs. In reality, you're only granted one chance at a basket; once you score or miss, then it's the other team's turn.
- Big Ball of Violence: Smooth and Flash, the two most selfish players in the Dimmsdale Ballhogs, tend to erupt into this while fighting over the basketball.
- Big "WHAT?!": Timmy's reaction when Doug Dimmadome reveals he's selling the Ballhogs to Alaska if they don't get out of last place.
- Continuity Nod: Cosmo gets to quote Timmy's wish again, even changing his head to look like him.
- Exact Words: Timmy only wished to be freakishly huge until he had enough money to buy the new V-Cube. Cosmo even had to point it out.Timmy: You gotta make me freakishly huge again! Tonight's the big game!
Cosmo: Uh, Timmy, we can't. Remember? [turns his head into Timmy's] "I wish I was freakishly huge and talented at basketball. Ow. At least until I make enough money for a new V-Cube, then I never want to be this freakishly huge again."
Timmy: I have got to be less specific with these wishes. - Laser-Guided Karma: Timmy's V-Cube blowing up on him from overloading just after he said nothing would separate him from playing his video game he's been at nonstop for a while.
- Oh, Crap! / You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Timmy when his V-Cube blows up after he stupidly tempted fate.Timmy: Well, nothing is going to separate me from my video game!
(Cue his V-Cube blowing up from overload, to his shock and disbelief.)
Cosmo: (In cheerful sarcasm) Except faulty Japanese game parts. - Running Gag: Someone mentioning blubber nuggets. Mmm, they're chewy!
- Series Continuity Error: Episodes like "Smarty Pants" established that fairy magic cannot be used in a competition, as it's considered a form of cheating, which results in Timmy's wish being nullified, but in this episode, Timmy faces no handicaps after wishing to become a good basketball player.
- Shout-Out: The V-Cube looks like a cross between the GameCube and Xbox.
- Tempting Fate: Timmy really shouldn't have said that nothing would separate him from his video game he's been at nonstop for days if he had known doing so would cause his V-Cube to overload if not given some relief time.
- Truth in Television: Playing a game console nonstop for days without a break will cause it to overheat and break down.
- "Yes"/"No" Answer Interpretation: While Timmy is playing the V-Cube at the beginning, this comes up.Wanda: Can we play?
(Timmy snarls at them like a monster)
Cosmo: AGH!! I'll take that snarling and foaming at the mouth as a no!
