Go To

The Lauren imposter, who identifies herself as Taiyou, and her soldiers march Gondo's team into the elevator and orders them to take them to Dimension Tide's control room in the basement's fifth level. Gondo lies about the proper sequence of buttons to press. While the elevator takes them to the right place, it also triggers a silent alarm.

When they arrive, Red Dawn is suspicious that the control room is deserted, so Gondo and his team lie and say it was closed for maintenance and nobody told the higher ups that the repairs were finished. Taiyou orders them to show her how to operate Dimension Tide, but they rightfully point out they are soldiers, not technicians. Scowling, Taiyou orders her right-hand man Dredger to accompany Amanda through the facility and fetch a technician. She warns Amanda not to try anything; Dredger will call her every two minutes. If he doesn't call, her friends will be executed immediately.

As Dredger and Amanda walk, he uses a device to make his outfit change into a Global Defense Force uniform, surprising her as that kind of tech was only experimental as far as she knew. He also hands her an empty gun to complete her uniform, and demonstrates that he has super strength and speed from alien ancestry. She asks why he joined Red Dawn, and he claims he's only in it for the money. She incredulously points out Red Dawn plans to wipe out humanity; if they succeed, money will be useless, but he just frowns and turns away.

They arrive at a cafeteria and run into Miki Saegusa, who was responding to the silent alarm. Amanda hugs her and they communicate telepathically, with Amanda explaining the situation to her. Miki points out Dimension Tide burned out and became useless after it was hacked into, but Amanda points out Red Dawn doesn't know that. Amanda pretends that Miki is a technician and tells her she is needed in the control room. As the three head down, Miki starts mentally contacting her fellow soldiers and moving them into position.

They arrive in the control room to find Gondo, Paterson, and Sarah passing the time by playing poker, annoying Taiyou and her men. Taiyou orders Miki to activate Dimension Tide. As she walks towards the controls, Miki sends a telepathic signal to the men outside, but Taiyou reveals she is also a telepath and heard that. Taiyou and the rest of Red Dawn try to shoot her, but she knocks them down with a wave of telekinesis. The Global Defense Force soldiers burst in and get into a firefight with Red Dawn. Every member of Red Dawn falls except for Taiyou and Dredger, who manage to escape the room with a flashbang grenade. When Miki reports Taiyou is a telepath, Gondo's team wonders why she didn't just influence them into doing her bidding, so Miki notes that judging from their brief interaction, Taiyou is not very experienced and doesn't know the full potential of psychic powers. They call Stacker Pentecost about the situation. Miki detects Taiyou and Dredger trying to get back to the landing pad, so they suggest sending Shinichi Ozaki there to intercept them. Pentecost orders them brought in alive for questioning, then they all head for the landing pad.

Taiyou and Dredger arrive at the landing pad and are intercepted by Ozaki, who takes on Dredger. They are roughly matched in strength and speed, but it soon becomes clear that Ozaki is the more skilled fighter. When Miki and the others arrive, Taiyou demonstrates that while she doesn't know how to influence people's minds, she can create mental barriers that prevent Miki from reading or influencing her and Dredger's minds. She knocks them down with telekinesis, then steals Sarah's gun and holds her hostage. With her hostage, she backs up towards what she thinks is her plane, but feels something hit the back of her head. This breaks her concentration and makes her barriers dissappear. Miki takes the opportunity to seize her mind. Miki sees pure sadness and despair in Taiyou's mind. She truly believes humanity deserves to be destroyed and as so little faith that she thinks Miki is going to turn her into a brain-dead vegetable. Instead Miki knocks her unconscious. After seeing what happened to Taiyou, Dredger is enraged, but Ozaki takes advantage of the distraction and knocks him out.

They look up and discover the plane carrying Lauren Faust and Craig McCracken just arrived and Taiyou approached it after mistaking it for the one Red Dawn arrived in. Lauren hefts the fire extinguisher she clocked Taiyou with and asks what they missed.
