Go To

Original Airdate: March 19, 2007
Music Genre: Surf Rock
Absent Character(s): Tasha

Movers Uniqua and Pablo move Sultan Tyrone's magical things to groovy surf rock. But can they do the job without using up Genie Austin's three wishes?

"Tropes of Arabia"

  • All Animals Are Dogs: The flying carpet barks, and Uniqua speaks to it in "puppy speech": "Who's a good ruggy?"
  • Anachronism Stew: As to be expected from this show. We've got a moving truck in the Islamic Golden Age.
  • "Arabian Nights" Days: It's set in a fantastical version of the Arabian peninsula with genies and magical treasures.
  • Benevolent Genie: After having a bit of fun with Pablo and Uniqua by accepting a non-wish, Austin carefully explains the rules of genie magic to them in the song "I Wish" and helps them with the runaway flying carpet.
  • Genie in a Bottle: Genie Austin is stored in a blue bottle.
  • Three Wishes: Austin can grant Pablo and Uniqua three wishes to help them complete their gig. First he accepts Pablo's accidental non-wish ("I wish we knew where we were"), then subdues the runaway flying carpet. For the third and final wish, they ask for an afternoon snack for a job well done, and the kids return to the real world for cheese and crackers at Austin's place.
  • To the Tune of...: The final song in the episode, "The Genie Bottle", performed to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", as Uniqua and Pablo bemoan their bad luck.
  • Wasteful Wishing: Pablo thoughtlessly says, "I wish I knew where we were" when he and Uniqua are driving through the endless desert. Cue Genie Austin, yelling "You're in Arabia! Boy, that was easy!"
