  • Exact Words: Ernest T. who is working as a crossing guard, is told by Andy not to throw rocks at cars. Ernest T. promptly switches to throwing bricks at cars.
  • Loophole Abuse: Andy briefly hires Ernest T. Bass as a crossing guard – and naturally, Ernest starts heaving rocks at cars that don't stop. Andy tells him not to do that, and Ernest agrees – but he pulls out a brick after Andy leaves. Andy then catches him hurling the brick, and Ernest protests "You said rock! You didn't say anything about no brick!" Andy fires him.
  • Never My Fault: Ernest T. blames Malcolm for stealing his job, even though it was because of his own incompetence that he was fired in the first place.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Andy accidentally creates enmity between Ernest T. Bass and Malcolm Merriweather by giving Malcolm the job he fired Ernest T. from. This is further complicated by the fact that Malcolm is an Englishman, which Ernest, as an Irishman, naturally hates.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Ernest T's mother taught him to hate Englishmen.
