Stolen Car is the thirteenth episode of the first season of That '70s Show. It aired on January 17, 1999.
When Eric accidentally scratches the family car, Red takes the keys from him. Kelso tries to borrow his cousin's car so the gang still has a ride.
Tropes:
- Cassandra Truth: Exploited by Eric when Red questions him where he was after he gets home late. Eric matter-of-factly replies "Prison." and Red just laughs it off, mistaking Eric's "confession" with his regular snarkiness.
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Red's reputation is pretty well-known, as shown when one of the arresting officers asks Eric if he's Red Forman's kid. After Eric confirms it, the officer just tells him, "You poor bastard!"
- One Phone Call: After the boys are arrested for driving a car that was reported as stolen, they get one phone call, and Kelso decides to call Jackie, because her father is a lawyer and she has a checkbook. When Jackie hears that Kelso is in jail, she promises that she'll sleep with him (for the first time) once he gets out. Kelso is so excited by this that he hangs up without telling her to bail them out.
- Unknowingly Possessing Stolen Goods: Kelso's cousin lets Kelso drive his car and takes the guys around, but they get arrested after learning the car is stolen. It's subverted when the police learn the truth: that the cousin borrowed it from his grandmother and she had forgotten about it and reported it stolen.
