Recap / Teen Titans Go S 6 E 50 The Mug

Go To

Robin wants a "#1 Dad" mug, but by earning the title instead of just buying one at the store, so Raven turns the Teen Titans into a sitcom family with Robin as the father.

  • Comical Coffee Cup: Robin's desire for one kicks off the plot, sparked by Cyborg returning from a trip to the mug store and buying comical mugs for everyone but Robin.
  • Helicopter Parents: As part of Robin trying to earn the title of "#1 Dad", he is obsessive with protecting his "children" Beast Boy and Starfire, making sure that the former has everything from emergency rations to an inflatable raft before he simply goes riding his bicycle.
  • Irony: When they're transformed into a sitcom family, Cyborg becomes a technologically-blind grandmother.
  • Shadowed Face, Glowing Eyes: Thompson, the sitcom Teen Titan's neighbor, seemingly has his face (save for his eyes) completely shadowed by the shadow of his fishing hat. Eventually, he turns out to actually be a giant monster with blue fur and pink tentacles, with the shadowed part just being a bump on its head.
  • Technologically Blind Elders: The first scene of the "sitcom" Teen Titans is Grandma Cyborg having no clue how to work a tablet, to the point of not knowing what part is the screen.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Raven agrees to magically transform the Titans into a sitcom family because they have nothing better to do. Immediately after they teleport away, the Titan Tower's alarms blare to announce a crime in progress.
    • After saving the Titans from Thompson and earning his #1 Dad mug, Robin proudly promises "that nothing is going to break this family apart". Immediately, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy leave to star in a spin-off with Aqualad, leaving Robin with Cyborg, who then breaks the mug.
