Starting off where season 1 ended, the Towne Family Rodeo's kicked off, and Oscar's competing. And Suga Mama's finally gonna confront her father after so many years.

- Earn Your Happy Ending: After so many years, Suga Mama finally earns the respect of Pa, who drops his sexist attitude and makes peace with Qunnah, and the Prouds leave on good terms with the rest of the Towne family.
- Elopement: When they were younger Suga Mama and Quanah were going to get married, but interracial marriage was illegal in Oklahoma at the time, so they were going to run away together. Unfortunately, Pa caught up to them first, and threatened Quanah into leaving. This was the last straw for Suga Mama, who ran away and vowed to never return.
- Food and Animal Attraction: During the hog riding contest at the rodeo, Oscar's hog won't move. However, he discovers that the pig likes his snacks, and uses them to lead it to the finish line first, although he's accused of cheating.
- Gainax Ending: In the final scene before the credits, magic butterflies transform the town into a lively settlement with people and objects appearing (which the Prouds themselves can see happening). After the whole sequence, they're last seen Riding into the Sunset without confirming if those changes stuck, leaving it up to audience interpretation as to whether the changes to the town are real, or if the magic butterflies are giving the Prouds a vision of what the town looked like back then, as the new additions are bereft of 21st-century features.
- Just Friends: After Suga Mama finally forgives Qunnah, they both decide the two weren’t meant to be together, and agree to remain only friends.
- Mama Bear: After Oscar has trouble with Volcano the bull and gets threatened by him, Suga Mama swoops in and takes care of the bull, winning the competition.
- Parental Sexuality Squick: Oscar gags when he mistakenly thinks Suga Mama was hooking up with an old flame.
- The Stinger: The episode ends with a post-credits stinger where Penny is reading the book Quanah gave her, and Kareem seemingly running away from LaCienega and telling Penny nothing happened between them during the school trip.
