Recap / Sodor The Modern Years S 2 E 16 Troublesome Trucks

Go To

When trucks start playing up on the Little Western, Duck turns to an unlikely ally.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Big "SHUT UP!": When the trucks tell Duck they would push him down the ocean instead of Donald because of his namesake, Duck angrily tells them this.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Duck does this to Donald.
Duck: Don't fuss yourself, Donald. I'll look after them (your trucks.)
  • Call-Back:
    • There is a flashback from "Bad Apple" where Diesel explained his motives to the main line engines and apologized for his actions, which led him to do the same to Duck.
    • When Diesel tells Duck about his manipulation skills, Duck realizes that he was referring to the time he used them to end Thomas and Percy's argument which nearly closed down the Ffarquhar branch line.
  • Easily Forgiven: By the time Diesel works up courage to apologise to Duck for his past misdeeds, the Great Western Engine had already forgiven him. Slightly justified that Diesel has mellowed out by that point and the fact that Duck (along with Gordon) were the first to find out why Diesel escaped to Sodor in the 80s. If anything, Diesel had been the one caught by surprise, not Duck.
  • Jerkasses: The Troublesome Trucks are far more mischievous than usual.
  • Mythology Gag: When Percy and Diesel were talking about Donald's near miss, Percy mentions the time the trucks pushed him to the ocean.
