Recap / Scrubs S 4 E 18 My Roommates

Go To

Carla and Turk decide to ask J.D. to move out of the apartment, leaving J.D. temporarily homeless, but it isn't long before they start to miss having him around...thus resulting in them realizing something they hadn't expected. Dr. Cox's competitive high school friend Ron comes to visit, Dr. Cox discovers that his (Ron's) son is autistic.

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite the constant competition, Cox and Ron really are good friends. Although Ron gets pissed and initially acts like Cox saying his son is autistic is just another competition thing and tells Cox to piss off, Cox warmly tells him he's not going anywhere.
  • Competition Freak: Cox and Ron have been competitive since they were kids. At one point it's a literal pissing contest.
  • Misblamed: Rather than discuss their issues, Turk and Carla insist having JD as a roommate is the cause.
  • Moment Killer: Turk and Carla barge in just as Kylie is inviting JD to bed.
  • Oh, Crap!: At the end of the episode, when JD points out they couldn't make it a week without him, Turk and Carla realize they have real problems they need to talk about.
  • Sexless Marriage: Kylie insists on taking it slow, so she and JD still aren't having sex, despite weeks of dating and his heavy-handed hints.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: When the Janitor offers to let JD crash in his garage.
JD: You're going to slather jam on my face and sic a family of raccoons on me, aren't you.
    Janitor: Dammit, I've become predictable.
  • Wham Line: "Nathan has classic signs of autism."
