Recap / Scrubs S 3 E 4 My Lucky Night

Go To

Sean isn't happy to hear that Elliott & J.D. have been intimate. It does, however, make it easier for him to break some news to her. Cox applies for a promotion. Jordan hires a babysitter. Carla embarrasses Turk in front of other surgeons.

  • Alone in a Crowd: Eliot lampshades this to Laverne, then she, JD, Turk, Cox, and Carla all show they're lost in their thoughts.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Sean gets his dream job and that means he has to cut ties with Eliot. Carla gets herself assigned to Turk's surgery rotation, only for him to get her reassigned because she embarrassed him, only for him to try to get her to come back when he thinks she was his lucky charm in surgery.
  • Bee Afraid: JD rides his bike into some bushes, then gets attacked by bees.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: Turk and Carla both have a point about how they've annoyed and hurt each other and need to apologize.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The Janitor (of course) responds to not solving JD's riddle (two coins add up to thirty cents and one of them is not a nickel) by destroying JD's bike (two guys destroyed your bike with a crowbar and a bat, and one of them wasn't me).
  • Grand Romantic Gesture: Eliot speeds up to the bus station, pulling a hard hand-brake turn, to rush in and ask Sean for a long-distance relationship... over the cellphone, because the bus driver wouldn't let her on without a ticket.
    • JD runs across the city (Janitor destroyed his bike) with a bouquet of flowers for Eliot, only to see how happy she is because Sean agreed to a long distance relationship.
  • Hide Your Lesbians: Stedman, a minor character who's just been a minor douche who pops up from time to time to douche it up, mentions his husband at the board meeting where they're deciding who will be the next residency director.
  • Humble Pie: Turk, Carla, and Cox all have to admit they need help from the people they love.
  • Long-Distance Relationship: At first Sean doesn't want to try this, but after Eliot shows up at the bus station, he realizes he loves her enough to try and make it work.
  • Tears of Joy: When JD arrives at Eliot's apartment, he sees her crying and thinks it's because she and Sean broke up. Turns out it's because Sean agreed to a long distance relationship and she's so happy she's crying.
  • Token Minority: Turns out Stedman is gay.
