Daddy's Girl: Johnny paid for the supremely untalented Alexis's singing lessons and even has a favorite track ("Hamptons Hoes") from her terrible album.
Did Not Get the Girl: The Stevie and Emir relationship seems like it will follow a standard Rom-Com arc, and it is jarring that it ends so abruptly. Yet, this leads to Character Development for Stevie and eventually sends the message that happiness isn't predicated on romantic love.
Differing Priorities Breakup: Stevie sees her relationship with Emir very differently than he does. He thinks it's just casual whenever he's near Schitt's Creek, she thinks it's serious. She calls it off when she learns he's not interested in it long term.
Footsie Under the Table: A platonic example occurs as Moira and Jocelyn feign politeness as Alexis auditions but play footsie to signal to each other just how bad it is.
Married to the Job: Emir travels for a living, Stevie is tied to the motel. Emir doesn't see either of those changing and isn't interested in settling down with her.
Parental Substitute: Johnny is very fatherly to Stevie in this episode, giving up his chance to schmooze at the Hopsies to take care of Stevie. Additionally, Moira consoles Stevie at the end as is downright maternal toward her, at least for Moira.
Running Gag: Ronnie demands an upgrade on the gift basket from Rose Apothecary, without paying for it.
