- Expository Hairstyle Change: All the Sides are featured with a very short hairstyle and facial hair, and even though this was originally motivated by
real life events, it was put into the plot as a form of reinforcement of the Sides' new calm and relaxed behavior. - Run or Die: Parodied. Virgil's suggestion of a plan to dealing with a crush is running away as fast as your feet allow you.
- Shout-Out: Several moments in the episode are shoutouts to different movies by Wes Anderson reenacted by the Sides. Also, there are moments that reference actual moments portrayed in the series, but in the new style of the episode, sometimes repeating quotes from the Sanders Sides series verbatim, like "one step in front of the other, kiddo" by Patton
- Significant Wardrobe Shift: All of the Sides and even Thomas are wearing different, more elegant outfits that nevertheless still reference the original outfits. Logan, Roman and Patton wear the same outfits they wore in the ''Into the Unknown'' musical short episode, while Thomas, Janus, Remus and Virgil wear original new outfits.
- What If?: We see an alternate timeline showing the Sides with different outfits and behavior, as if imitating the style of director Wes Anderson, which don't take much more continuity in the classic storyline.
