Since Miwa wasn't a member of the Foot Clan in this version, the Shredder sends a bunch of nameless Mooks to kidnap April instead, Leatherhead saving her in the nick of time.
While in "Pulverizer Returns" the turtles try and fail to master each other's weapons on their own, here Miwa (being the competitive type) continues trying to master her new sai to the point where she makes Raphael teach her how. In-turn, she helps Raphael get at least a vague handle on his nunchaku (and later, her tanto). Because of this, only Donnie, Leo and Mikey lose their weapons as punishment for switching back.
Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Donatello tries deterring Timothy from continuing his "double-agent" act in the Foot Clan by confessing his family's long, hard history with the Shredder (omitting the part where they're also an active ninja clan). Instead of convincing Timothy to stop, all it does as galvanize his resolve, adding vengeance for his friend as another reason to continue his vigilantism.
Too Much Alike: When Yoshi tries getting his children to swap weapons, Miwa and Leo attempted to cheese it and swap with each other because his swords and her tanto are just enough alike to stay within their comfort zones. Yoshi sees through it instantly and forces them to pick different partners.
