Tropes:

  • An Aesop: Harry is initially of the opinion that I Work Alone, but during the episode comes to accept the idea of working as part of a team.
Harry: (narrating) The problem with working as a team is sometimes other people can hold you back. But all the best superheroes have sidekicks. ... If you have the right person on your team, they do not hold you back. They lift you up.
  • Censorship by Spelling: Deputy Liv tells Sheriff Mike that she doesn't want to continue with their current line of investigation, that she just wants to go to the reservation. Worried that people may be listening in, she says she wants to "get the V-A-N." Mike tells her she needs to leave the V-A-N alone. She insists she wants to check for F-I-N-G-E-R-P-R-I-N-T-S. "H-E-L-L-L-L no," he tells her, pointing out that she had two fake cops show up at her place and they're clearly dealing with professionals.
  • I Can't Hear You: In an attempt to prevent their conversation from being overheard by government snoops or drones, Deputy Liv takes Sheriff Mike to a secluded area in the 59 where loud music is playing. Her attempts, however, to tell him anything, just result in this.
Liv: Listen, that duffel bag belongs to the Alien Tracker's son. I found the information in a diary.
    Mike: Who— who has diarrhea?!
  • Seven Minute Lull: The "I can't hear you" gag eventually culminates in this.
Mike (as the music stops) I don't have diarrhea!
