When TJ declines attending an event at the mall because of a prior obligation to a mysterious friend, the rest of the gang tries to find out why he's acting so strange.
Tropes for this episode include:
- Jerkass Has a Point: While Menlo certainly could've been less smug about it, the teachers asked him to monitor the crowd during Principal Prickly's state mandated lecture and report any students skipping out. When the rest of the gang complains about him busting them, TJ points out he was just doing his job.
- Villains Out Shopping: Randall is shown enjoying himself at Menlo's birthday party with the other attendants and not trying to snitch on anyone there; even TJ doesn't mind his presence.
- We Used to Be Friends: TJ and Menlo are revealed to have been best friends back in preschool, and TJ still goes to Menlo's birthday party every year even though they're technically not friends anymore.
