Kane, this is Bidwell, don't make me come looking for you!

So you are alive! Damn, Cortez won the bet!
Corporal Rhodes

...Kane go to the Strogg hangars, Viper Squad will rendezvous with you there. If you can take out the launching bays, the fliers won't be a problem. Voss out.
Lieutenant Voss

Air Defense Trenches is a relative short chapter that serves to provide some additional combat and to explain the plan to allow a Mobile Command Center to make safe landing.

Immediately upon starting the chapter, Sergeant Bidwell commands Kane to regroup with Rhino Squad ASAP as Rhino is being overrun and needs to call in air strikes for relief. Sergeant Bidwell (optionally) repeats his command to regroup if Kane stops to collect supplies, and later asks that Kane not make him go looking for him.

Corporal Rhodes is happy that you survived the crash in the previous chapter and jokes about Cortez winning the bet they both placed on your survival. Bidwell notes that the Strogg Fliers are preventing the Space Marine Corps from approaching the massive air defense cannon overlooking the trenches so that it may be demolished to enable safe landing of the Mobile Command Center. Bidwell orders Morris to join you and orders both of you to the Hangar Perimeter.

This Chapter contains examples of:

  • BFG: The Anti-Air cannon that Rhino Squad needs to destroy.
  • Continue Your Mission, Dammit!: Bidwell tracks your position and will reprimand you for getting side tracked, though your mission continues the same way without consequences for said slacking.
  • Death from Above: Your next mission is to eliminate this Strogg menace to approaching the anti air cannon.
  • Sidetrack Bonus: Some extra armor shards to help boost your armor value, which leads to Bidwell calling you out for the delay.
  • Video Game Set Piece: An SMC Walker above the trenches meets its end from enemy fire.
  • Warfare Regression: As the chapter titles implies, parts of the chapter have you fighting through trenches.
