Once again, Larry has escaped his terrarium in the Prehistoric Park Carboniferous Dome. And of course, once again, Spiny the dimetrodon escapes his paddock and tries to chase after and eat Larry.
And once again, Hilarity Ensues.
- Bullying a Dragon: Considering just how big Toppsy is, the sheer size alone should have likely tipped off how bad an idea it was for Spiny to try to snarl and swipe at him.
- Eats Babies: Spiny briefly considers trying to eat one of the dimetrodon hatchlings in the paddock's nursery at the beginning of the chapter. He ultimately decides against it once he remembers how he himself will end up getting eaten in the event that one of the mother dimetrodons successfully catches him in the act of trying to eat their offspring.
- From Bad to Worse: Over the course of his doomed effort at hunting Larry, Spiny ends up incurring the wrath of Toppsy, Matilda, and Dil, in that order.
- Never Smile at a Crocodile: The third and final stronger and tougher animal Spiny ends up incurring the ire of during his doomed hunting effort against Larry is Dil the deinosuchus, and while he is very quick to use her reaction to his presence as a means of escaping, she nonetheless very nearly bites off his tail.
- Temper-Ceratops: Spiny ends up getting on the bad side of Toppsy the triceratops, and subsequently has to hurriedly run away when he ends up antagonizing the ornery triceratops into charging at him!
- Terrifying Tyrannosaur: At one point in his attempts at chasing and eating Larry, Spiny finds himself inside Matilda's paddock. And upon noticing her coming his way, it does not take long for Spiny to find out just how terrifying she is when she subsequently tries to chase and eat HIM.
