Recap / Prehistoric Park Extras E 17 Dogfight

Go To

In the days leading up to the Majungasaurus mission, Jack's training of the dromaeosaurus pack finally gets a chance to pay off when Rocco the male teratornis manages to escape from the La Brea Grand Vista aviary. Unfortunately, it soon proves that the dromaeosaurus pack will need some assistance in the process.

  • Air Jousting: Rocco and Cirrus battle each other in the sky after the former manages to successfully slip away from the dromaeosaurus pack's efforts at taking him down.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: Cirrus, being much larger and stronger than Rocco, proves a natural choice of animal for Adrian to summon into play for helping to recapture Rocco after the dromaeosaurus pack prove to be not enough.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Rocco manages to fight his way out of getting taken down and recaptured by the dromaeosaurus pack and it seems as if he will be free to fly off to elsewhere after flying up into the sky where he'll be out of the dromaeosaurus pack's reach...until Cirrus arrives and subjects him to some good old fashion Air Jousting.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Rocco is successfully recaptured and placed back into the exhibit where he lives with his mate. Unfortunately, Jack's attempts at having the dromaeosaurus be fully responsible for as much didn't quite go according to plan. But fortunately for him, Nikolai at least is able to reassure him that he did very well in training the raptors.
  • Escaped Animal Rampage: Downplayed with Rocco's escape. Being a vulture, Rocco doesn't really cause all that much damage over the course of his time outside his enclosure. However, he still manages to give the dromaeosaurus pack a bit of beating and could easily have kept flying away all the way out of the park if it hadn't been for the arrival of Cirrus.
  • Raptor Attack: Played in fairly realistic fashion with the dromaeosaurus as they all work seamlessly together as a pack in their efforts to help capture Rocco the teratornis without showing off any of the sensational stereotypes usually associated with this trope.
  • Vile Vulture: Rocco the teratornis plays a minorly antagonistic role in this chapter by being the escaped animal that the park has to track down and have returned to its exhibit, and even gives the dromaeosaurus pack a bit of a beating in their efforts to recapture him.
