The Rangers figure out where the Fire Heart is located, but so do the Morlocks. Xander sprays himself with a "perfection potion" Clare made and begins turning into a tree.

- Chekhov's Skill: The episode starts with Toby announcing to the cast that he solved a difficult puzzle, and says he should work for the Power Rangers. When the Fire Heart turns out to be in a puzzle-locked chest, the Rangers take it to Toby to solve.
- Curiosity Is a Crapshoot: After Vida correctly guesses that the Fire Heart is behind door number 1, Xander wants to see what was behind door number 2 anyway. It was a monster.
- Hurricane of Puns: It starts when Xander first tells the others about his condition, and only continues from there. Even Phineas gets in on it.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: Vida transforms into a raincloud and rains Clare's antidote down onto Xander to cure him, an ability we've never seen her use before.
- Race Against the Clock: The puzzle on the chest containing the Fire Heart is timed, and gives whoever attempts to solve it only an hour to do so.
- Transformation at the Speed of Plot: Xander gradually becomes covered in bark and leaves from scene to scene; at first he notices a small sprout on his arm, then there's leaves in his hair and his arms are covered in tree bark, some time later he gets a mossy chest, and the next time we see him after that, his whole face is wooden.
