Ash, Misty and Tracey are bound for the next Orange League gym on Trovita when they find themselves trekking across rugged landscape, miles from anywhere. Tired, hungry and wet from a downpour, the gang spots a swarm of circling Magnemite gathering electricity from the lightning. Ash later finds out about a power outage in the next town and tries to corral the Magnemite, make his way to the black out and save the day!
Tropes
- Black Sheep: Magnemite #6, who likes to wander off on its own. Upon seeing Ash's determination to save its fellow Magnemite from Team Rocket, it gets involved in the fight and ends up evolving into Magneton.
- Cattle Drive: Ethan raises Magnemite on lightning and then herds them into town to deliver the electricity.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: Magnemite #6, whose magnets are bent slightly, making it distinct from the other Magnemite, it retains this feature upon evolving into Magneton.
- Invisible Subtle Difference: Ethan is somehow able to tell his Magnemite apart. Ash and Misty, not so much.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: When Team Rocket is sent blasting off a second time in the episode, they cry out "We're blasting off twice, but it ain't so nice!"
- The Rustler: Team Rocket fills this role.
