The one where... The group meets an incredibly strong Nurse Joy.
While sailing between small islands, the group encounters an extremely busy Nurse Joy. She tells the group that she travels from island to island helping sick and injured Pokémon, and invites our heroes to travel with her. On the expedition, they learn much about Pokémon and Joy's very special friendship with a Magikarp. Unfortunately, Joy runs some into trouble continuing her rounds once Team Rocket storms into the area!
Tropes
- The Joy of X: The title, and a pun off of Nurse Joy's name.
- Magikarp Power: Joy's Magikarp evolves into Gyarados to take on Team Rocket. Zigzagged in that its sheer size makes its usually useless attacks more enough to give Team Rocket a challenge. Evolving into Gyarados was just a huge perk.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: While looking for Joy, the group stumbles upon a pink ball that turns out to be Jigglypuff. They all paddle away immediately.
- Shout-Out: A smaller than usual Magikarp growing to a gigantic size due to The Power of Love may sound quite familiar to English viewers.
- Sweet Seal: A wild Dewgong found while Joy is treating a Shellder underwater is quite playful...a bit too much so, nearly drowning Ash due to it.
