Ash and Goh travel to Galar for the finals of the World Coronation Series, to see Lance, member of the Kanto Elite Four, face of against Galar's regional champion, Leon. The result of the battle between Dynamax Gyarados and Gigantamax Charizard will determine which of the two will win and hold the title of Monarch.
- Always Someone Better: Lance's Gyarados gets defeated by Leon's Charizard even with having a type advantage.
- The Cameo: During the flight, the silhouette of Eternatus briefly appears in the clouds.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends when Team Rocket accidentally provoke a Drednaw to Gigantamax outside the stadium.
- Continuity Nod:
- Ash recognizes Lance right away, and he uses the same shiny Gyarados that he caught at the Lake of Rage.
- The announcer also mentions Lance being part of the Pokemon G-Men.
- I've Heard of That — What Is It?: Ash states this of the World Coronation Series...before promptly questioning just what the series is about.
