Japanese Title: Onbat and Flaette! An Encounter in the Wind!!

Original Airdate: January 21, 2016

US Airdate: April 30, 2016
Cool it, Breloom! She's just not that in to you!

In a meadow on their way to their next trials, Noibat incurs the wrath of a Breloom and its Beedrill lackeys. He is helped by a Floette, who just happens to be the unaware target of said Breloom's affections. Can Ash's youngest Pokémon learn a few new tricks to stave off its wrath?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Big Brother Instinct: After hearing Noibat's cry, Hawlucha rushes ahead of the others to see what was wrong.
  • Crash-Into Hello: How Noibat first got in trouble with Breloom. Noibat collided with Breloom while flying through a forest, ruining the bouquet of flowers it assembled for Floette.
  • Damsel in Distress: Floette, courtesy of Crazy Jealous Guy Breloom.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Noibat.
  • Healing Factor: The move that Floette uses to heal Noibat is Aromatherapy. In the games, it heals the user, and all members of the party it is part of, of status conditions.

  • Imaginary Love Triangle: Breloom has an obvious crush on a Floette. Noibat has a nasty run-in with that same Breloom, badly inflicting poison on the poor bat. Floette arrives and heals Noibat. This would be repaid when Noibat saves Floette from a strong breeze. Having witnessed all this, Breloom would only get green in its eyes...
  • This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: Both Ash and Hawlucha agree that Noibat should battle Breloom itself.

How well does it match the trope?
