• The Cameo: And you'd think the writers would have forgotten about Ash's Butterfree.
• My God, What Have I Done?: Aaron revealed that when he was younger, he was quite the Sore Loser and scolded his Wurmple for being too weak. He immensely regrets what he did even into the present day.
• Not-So-Harmless Villain: In Jessie's defence, the team were actually doing a good job keeping them herded until Aaron's old Beautifly appeared.
• Sensing You Are Outmatched: For once, James and Meowth decide against stealing a Pokémon (mostly because their target trainer happens to be Aaron of the Elite Four). Unfortunately for them, Jesse vetoes their decision. Rather bizarrely, this ends up downplayed, as Team Rocket actually put up a decent fight for once.
• Sore Loser: When Aaron was younger, he often cried whenever he lost. When he lost a battle using his Wurmple, he scolded it. Aaron deeply regrets what he did.
