Brendan and Sceptile are too late.

Brendan has infiltrated Team Magma's hideout outside Lilycove City in Hoenn, and he's looking to thwart Maxie's plans to awaken the legendary Groudon. Maxie tasks his Admin, Courtney, with holding Brendan and his Sceptile off. However, Courtney has had a vision of Team Magma's defeat against Groudon and an unhealthy desire to test Brendan.

Tropes:

  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Courtney summoning her Camerupt against Brendan's Sceptile.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: This episode is set in Pokémon Omega Ruby, as Maxie has a Key Stone set in the frame of his glasses.
  • Evil Laugh: The way Courtney giggles after the line at the top of this page is really creepy.
  • Foreshadowing: Courtney has foreseen that Maxie and Team Magma are going to regret awakening Groudon.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Courtney has a vision of Primal Groudon causing destruction and attacking Team Magma after awakening. However, despite this horrific vision of what will happen, Courtney still carries out her duties to Team Magma by stalling Brendan so that Maxie can evacuate.
  • Mook Horror Show: Brendan and his Sceptile methodically take down every Pokémon and door in their way, while the cameras watch.
  • Mythology Gag: Sceptile takes down a Golbat with a Izuna Drop styled Leaf Storm in the same way it does in Pokkén Tournament.
  • Scissors Cuts Rock: Brendan's Sceptile beats a Magma Grunt's Golbat with Leaf Storm even though Golbat only takes a quarter damage from the move in the games due to its Poison/Flying-type.
  • You Are Too Late: Class 2. Brendan arrives too late to stop Maxie and his grunts departing in their drill submarine to seek out Groudon.
