Continuing their journey, the group gets caught in a nasty blizzard that blows away their tent, but are rescued by a group of villagers before they freeze to death. After awaking, they learn that the village uses no technology of their own, except for self made Pokeballs. One villager, Yona, prepares to make two Pokeballs herself to catch a Fridglet and Swinub.
- Mundane Object Amazement: Trainers usually receive a Pokedex at the start of their journey, making it a very common and well known object among the Pokémon community. The village however uses no technology except their own self made Pokeballs, so Yona is amazed when she sees Flash use his Pokedex and calls it a "magic talky box".
- The Nose Knows: A Fridglet has such a strong sense of smell it can easily find truffles even when they are buried in the snow. In the village, a Fridglet chooses its trainer by smelling them, since a Fridglet can detect the unique smell each human has. When a Fridglet likes the smell of someone it approaches that person and accepts them as its trainer.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Traveling through the cold on foot can be dangerous, especially during a blizzard. Flash and his friends nearly freeze when their tent is blown away, and it is played very seriously without any Harmless Freezing. If the villagers hadn't of found them and brought them back to heal them, they probably would have frozen to death.
- The Unreveal: Rutherford accepts Flash challenging him to a battle and we see Riptide and Mamoswine charge toward each other while the narration describes how this will be an epic battle. It immediately cuts to the next day with the outcome of the battle never revealed.
