Recap / PaPCAaMiPT Ch 2 "Pound's Pain"

Go To

Pound Cake, despite having learnt that there is no monster in the bathroom, isn't keen to use his potty. After all, if you eventually give your potty up for the toilet, what's the point? He doesn't tell anyone because they wouldn't understand, but he has a secret plan: hide diapers, then when nature calls, put them on and use them, then throw them away.

It's been a week since Chapter One, but neither of the twins has made it to the bathroom in time (Pound intentionally), and the twins are now playing in their nursery, when Pound feels the urge to poop. He flies out of the playpen, puts a diaper on, and soils it.

He then goes into the bathroom and, because he hasn't quite finished yet, finishes off while sitting on Pumpkin's potty still in his diaper. He goes to get up, only to find that, because his diaper is more full than it was, he can't get up.

Mr. Cake enters and, to Pumpkin's surprise, instantly sets Pound free by undoing the diaper.

This chapter provides examples of

  • Alliterative Title: The chapter is titled Pound's Pain.
  • Help, I'm Stuck!: Pound finds himself stuck to Pumpkin's potty chair.
  • Laborious Laziness: Pound doesn't want to use his potty because he thinks there's no point in bothering if you're eventually going to use the toilet. So he plans to hide diapers and use them in secret, then throw them away, which, as the narrator points out, takes more effort than simply using the potty.
  • Potty Emergency: The urge to poop that Pound feels is described as painful, and it takes him effort not to poop on the floor mid-flight.
  • Potty Failure:
    • Apparently, in the week that passed, neither of the twins had made it to the potty on time.
    • Defied when Pound Cake flies gently to avoid accidentally pooping on the floor.
