This episode provides examples of:
- Break the Cutie: Defied. The whole episode is about Nadakhan trying to cause it to Jay, but the Ninja of Lightning doesn't break easily.
- Cassandra Truth: Flintlocke doesn't believe Jay when he says Nadakhan intends to get infinite wishes.
- Eyepatch of Power: Invoked by Clancee when he gives one to Jay.
- Kick the Dog: Flintlocke tricks Jay into believing he's going to help him against Nadakhan, but after revealing it was a ruse, the whole crew laugh and mock Jay.
- Pet the Dog: Clancee still feeds the prisoner Jay despite his crewmates' protests, and gives Jay an eyepatch to symbolize that he's worthy of being a pirate. This doesn't stop him from "kicking" the same "dog" with the others later (see above).
