Tropes:

  • Big Damn Heroes: Ryan walks in and offers Nancy an excuse for why she intruded on his hunting lodge; he invited her to pay her for finding the truth about Lucy's death.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Nancy offers to perform one, overwhelming herself with her fear of In the Blood.
  • Immediate Sequel: this episode takes places 3 hours in universe after the Season 1 finale.
  • In the Blood: Nancy catches herself mimicking a Character Tic of Everett's and quickly stops herself.
  • Mythology Gag: The episode gives us The Bobbsey Twins. Aged up Indian-American thieves.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Ryan says that Nancy likes to travel with wingmen, sort of like Everett. Ace likewise points out that she drags people into dangerous situations, like Everett. She resents the first, is shaken by the second.
  • Only in It for the Money: Gil negotiates while going into shock, pointing out that if he dies, they don't get the mirror.
  • Photographic Memory: Nancy recalls the picture of the ritual to summon the Aglaeca and recognizes the mirror from it.
  • Sarcasm Mode: When Nancy asks if Tamura noticed the numbers on the girls hands, he replies "No, because I'm a terrible detective."
  • Secret-Keeper: Ryan made up a lie to get Nancy off the hook with the police, then he pointed out that he didn't tell them you can't steal a family heirloom if you're family.
  • Shout-Out: Kids go into the woods, get taken out by a mystical force, leave behind a Found Footage record. It's The Blair Witch Project, y'all. It's even got scary totems, though they're much bigger than BW's.
  • Smoky Gentlemen's Club: What Everett's secret council of ominousness most resembles. Really, it's a business meeting for men he's pulling into a shady business deal that probably won't end well for them.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: In response to how Nancy's doing, George tells Carson she's "not in any trouble".
  • Weaksauce Weakness: The Wraith is scared of fire? Everything's scared of fire. Fire burns.
