"The Scoop on U.A. Class 1-A" is the first episode of My Hero Academia's fourth season, and the 64th episode overall.
In search of a story, journalist Taneo Tokuda comes to Heights Alliance dormitories to interview class 1-A.
Tropes:
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Taneo figures out that All Might has a successor from watching the video of his final moments, as well as his job at U.A. He's then able to narrow down who the successor is first to the top six students to place at the sports festival, and from there to Deku
- Body Horror: Taneo Tokuda has the ability to grow camera lenses from all over his body and can print pictures from his chest. As a journalist, this is an incredibly useful quirk, but that doesn't make it any less freaky.
- Canon Foreigner: The journalist Taneo Tokuda is an anime exclusive character.
- Day in the Life: Taneo says he is simply there to photograph the students' dorm life and for them to pretend as if he isn't there.
- Filler: An episode with an original plot, that's used to recap the previous season and the characters' powers.
- Recap Episode: Aside from The Stinger, the episode recaps previous seasons events and the characters' powers.
- Secret-Keeper: In the end, although Taneo has correctly figured out that Midoriya is All Might's successor, he decides to not publish his story out of respect for both of them, instead choosing to secretly write a book about them which will only be released when the time is right. He also pretends that the whole investigation was mostly a loss, but gives his employers something else to run a story on.
