"Wild, Wild Pussycats" is the second episode of My Hero Academia's third season, and the 40th episode overall.

The training camp begins, and 1-A has to battle a forest of monsters blocking their path to lunch.

Tropes exclusive to the anime:

  • Adaptation Expansion: This episode goes into a bit more detail about how 1-A fought their way through the forest to the training camp.
  • Color Failure: Izuku goes completely white after being on the receiving end of Kota's Megaton Punch Groin Attack.
  • Foreshadowing: Aizawa mentions to Mandalay that Class 1-A is undergoing training that they normally wouldn't do at UA until their second years so they can get their provisional licenses early. This will come up in a later arc, and the reasons for it are that villains are beginning to mobilize more frenetically than ever before and society needs to put a rush on the new crop of heroes.
  • Groin Attack: Kota delivers one hell of a punch to Midoriya's family jewels, and all he did was say hi.
  • Potty Emergency: Mineta has to really go to the bathroom when the bus stops, but sadly for him it was no rest stop.
  • Really 17 Years Old: Midoriya praises the WWP for being renowned veteran heroes since he was a kid. Pixie-Bob takes this as an insult and "corrects" him by saying that she, specifically, is "18 at heart". She's actually 31, but Midoriya never mentions it even before she jumps in.
  • Secret Test: The bus transporting the students stops for a break and they just happen to meet with a veteran hero team, who point out that their camp is a few miles from where they are. They all realize a bit too late that their planned training has already started, and need to rush to camp through forest filled with makeshift monsters they created if they want to eat. Surprise!
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Iida declares to a young Kota that punching Midoriya in the scrotum is irredeemable.
  • Try Not to Die: Dropped by Aizawa before the Quirk training starts to emphasize just how difficult it will be.
  • Twice Shy: Izuku and Ochako both end up blushing and stuttering when Ochako gets a little to close to him without knowing.
  • Villain Respect: More bully than villain, but Bakugo compliments Kota for delivering a Groin Attack on Midoriya.
  • Wham Line: Katsuki is told to perform a ball throw like the first day of class, but Aizawa shows that his distance hasn't improved since then. He adds that though the students have achieved great experience and mental awareness, their Quirks still need to be honed in more, which is why they are doing this camp.
