Hearing about his former martial sister's upcoming wedding, Wei Wuxian thinks back to when Jin Zixuan tried to make amends and win Jiang Yanli over with (failed) romantic gestures.
- Adaptational Angst Downgrade: In the novel, Wei Wuxian's reaction to being informed about Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan's upcoming wedding (something he wouldn't be able to attend) was a lot more morose. Here, he simply smiles contentedly while commenting that Jin Zixuan is a lucky man to have her as his wife.
- Affectionate Gesture to the Head: While Jin Zixuan groused over his multiple failed attempts to romance Jiang Yanli, she simply giggled and consoled him by patting him on the cheek, which her brothers took as a sign that she still returned the Jin clansman's feelings.
- Big Brother Instinct: Inverted. Suspicious of their older sister being around a guy they dislike (not helped that he used to disrespect her), Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng watched Jin Zixuan from afar when he planned to court Jiang Yanli. When the Jin clansman's first attempt failed, the two reacted by jumping out of the pond they were hiding in and throwing him in it.
- Endearingly Dorky: Although all of Jin Zixuan's romantic gestures ended in failure due to his incompetence, Jiang Yanli's giggle at the end implied she found that dorky side of him to be cute.
- Failure Montage: A montage of Jin Zixuan courting Jiang Yanli is shown, with each romantic gesture ending in complete disaster.
- He gave her a lotus flower that he tended to, but the flower ended up wilting while he explained how she reminded him of said flower.
- He carved a Clarity Bell out of wood, but it snapped in half as he presented it to her. Worse is that it cracked right after he said that the carving represented his feelings for her.
- He cooked lotus root and pork rib soup for her, but she was understandably hesitant to try it. He took a sip to prove to her that it was safe to eat, but he ended up feeling sick and promptly collapsed.
- Happily Married: Lan Wangji states that unlike before, Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli genuinely love each other now, and thus their second engagement is guaranteed to lead to a joyous marriage.
