Despite having formed a three girl band, the school idols are still receiving resistance from Dia. Fortunately, help has arrived in the form of eccentric third year, and new school director, Mari Ohara. Mari tells the girls that she will allow them to become school idols if their first concert can completely fill their school auditorium.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Big Damn Heroes: Just when it seems that the new concert is ruined and that Aqours tenure as school idols is over before it even began, Chika's sister arrives, having managed to gather a large number of people from her work, as well as others who were interested in their concert.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Mari, the new school director, shows herself to not only be an oddball but a bit of a troll as well.
- Improbable Age: Mari is revealed to be the new director of the school despite being only 17 and also a student there. She was able to get the position by buying her way into it.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: It's revealed that Mari was able to buy her way into becoming the new director of the school all so she could override Dia's wishes and allow Chika and co. become school idols.
- Sink or Swim Mentor: Mari deliberately gives the girls the difficult challenge of filling up their schools auditorium on their first concert or they wont be allowed to become school idols.
- Recycled Script: This episode parallels µ's first live in School Idol Project but because of the cast and setting, ends up being completely different.
- Aqours takes advantage of their Close-Knit Community to have a successful first live unlike µ's.
- Chika's unexpected breakdown due to the power outage makes her less of an Expy of Honoka and more of a Contrasting Sequel Main Character.
- Thanks for the Mammary: Following in Nozomi's footsteps Mari promptly gropes Dia's chest after seeing her for the first time in two years commenting that her chest hasn't grown in the time.
- Only the Worthy May Pass: Mari's bet to the girls that they need to get a full house in their school auditorium before she will allow them to become school idols. As Riko and You later realise, even if they get every student in the school to come to their concert, it wouldn't be enough to completely fill the room. As Riko points out, Mari likely gave this task on purpose since, if they can't manage to do that, they probably wouldn't be able to handle being school idols.
- Troll: Mari tells the girls that she booked their first concert inside the Akiba Dome before telling them that "It's joke!" Chika promptly lampshades the fact that Mari put so much effort into one bad joke.
