Recap / Lazy Town S 3 E 1 Roboticus

Go To

Robbie mail-orders a robot superhero, Roboticus, that's 6000 times stronger and faster than Sportacus himself. When the new hero puts Sportacus out of the hero business, Robbie is overjoyed—especially when he can put his real plan into effect and destroy everyone's sports equipment. Meanwhile, Sportacus practices to become strong and fast enough to beat his old records.

With everyone in trouble, the kids challenge Roboticus to a race to earn Sportacus's hero status back, but Robbie quickly endangers all of them, and traps Sportacus! Can Sportacus save everyone and still win the race?

This episode contains examples of:

  • Canon Immigrant: The character and concept for Roboticus originated in a LazyTown stage show that first ran in 2011.
  • Compressed Adaptation: The episode is based on the Roboticus LazyTown stage play and is shortened for time, including the removal of Robbie giving Sportacus a sugar apple to knock him out during the race.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: If Robbie hadn't insisted on stopping and putting everyone in harm's way Roboticus might have won fair and square.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Robbie goes all-out with this scheme, endangering all the kids to start and successfully trapping Sportacus in a pit, then blocking it off with his bulldozer. Sportacus wins the race with Roboticus by a very narrow margin.
  • Upgrade vs. Prototype Fight: In their rematch race Sportacus wins, even though he stopped to save all the kids from trouble along the way.
