Recap / Law & Order S16E21 "Hindsight"

Go To

Detective Nick Falco (Michael Imperioli) goes home with a woman but the next day, she is found dead in the bathroom from a slashed throat. Fontana and Green investigate. Despite orders, Falco keeps getting involved. It eventually comes to light that he was framed by the wife of someone Falco had put away. She is tricked into confessing.

Tropes present in the evidence

  • A Deadly Affair: Keesha was convinced to murder Sonya by her being told that Sonya was pregnant with Keesha's boyfriend's baby.
  • Dirty Cop: The question of whether or not Falco is one is a significant part of the episode, between him repeatedly getting involved with the investigation and allegedly tampering with evidence, and a couple people he put in prison accusing him of planting evidence in their cases.
  • Frame-Up: What the defendant tried to do because her ex blamed Falco for his arrest before he was able to take ownership of his actions.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: It appears that Hector Vasquez, who the police reported Sonya's death to, is her brother; at the end of the talk with the police, he says he needs to tell his father—who is presumably also her father.
  • Slipping a Mickey: It appears that Sonya did this to the men she and her gang were going to steal from. Believing Falco was also an intended target, she did it to him, too.
