Summary

Having escaped the defeat of Akuma Shogun, the surviving Devil Knights Sunshine and Ashuraman plot their revenge on the Justice Chojin. Using a magic box and dolls, they steal the Justice Chojin's Friendship Power. When the Universal Tag Tournament is announced, Kinnikuman's allies abandon him. Kin's mentor from Hawaii, Prince Kamehame takes the identity of Kinnikuman Great so he and Kin can enter the tournament to restore the Friendship Power.

This story arc has examples of

  • Came Back Wrong: Although the Perfect Mask resurrected the Justice Chojin who died in the Gold Mask Arc, Geromino, who is a normal human, came back in a vegetable state. His sprit has to undergo a journey to become a Chojin for him to be brought back properly.
  • Dramatic Unmask: Neptuneman and Big the Budo do this, with techniques designed to forcibly take a Chojin's mask off.
  • Half Way Plot Switch: Originally, the Devil Chojin are the main antagonists with their curse on the Friendship power, but the Perfect Chojin take over the plot with their scheme to steal the masks of the Justice Chojin.
  • Not So Above It All: A plot point. Despite claiming that Perfect Chojin have no emotions and never use weapons, the ones in the Tag Tournament are prone to break downs, and using improvised tools when they start to lose.
  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: Sunshine and Ashuraman use magic to turn the Justice Chojin against Kinnikuman.
  • Spirit Advisor: After Prince Kamehame dies, his ghost still appears from time to time to advise Kin and Terry.
