Recap / King Of The Hill S 4 E 16 Movin On Up

Go To

Luanne moves into the house next door (which used to belong to one of Cotton's old war buddies who recently died), and must deal with her freeloading roommates.

Tropes:

  • Berserk Button: Cotton Hill is a lot of things, but you do NOT call a World War II veteran a Nazi and not expect to get your ass handed to you.
Griffin (as Topsy tries to grab him): Get your hands off me you Nazi!
Cotton: WHO ARE YOU CALLIN' A NAZZY?! (Proceeds to headbutt Griffin to the floor)
  • It's All About Me: Hank does this twice regarding Luanne. He decides to charge her rent without getting permission from Peggy, and lets Luanne buy Pops' house when the guys were planning to buy it themselves as a clubhouse. Peggy and the guys both make it clear they aren't happy with Hank.
  • Forgot to Pay the Bill: Subverted. After the power in Luanne's house goes out, Hank asks if she forgot to pay the bill. Luanne reveals she did, but had the utilities cut off to make her roommates work for it.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: By the end of the episode Luanne's roommates are left to fend for themselves after Luanne cuts off the utilities to force them to contribute, and are later implied to get their asses handed to them after Griffin made the fatal mistake of calling Cotton Hill a Nazi.
  • Lazy Bum: Luanne's three roommates are a bunch of inconsiderate assholes who expect her to do and pay for everything and have the audacity to call her a Nazi when she complains about their behavior. This comes back to bite them all in the end, when she, having had enough, cuts off the house utilities and forces them to get off their asses and contribute in order to live comfortably.
  • Special Guest: Andy Dick as Griffin, Vicki Lewis as Kate and Maura Tierney as Tanya.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: It's never shown what happened to Luanne's roommates after she cuts off their utilities outside of Griffin being beaten up by Cotton and Topsy. Later episodes show that she's living alone (though her roommates are briefly seen at her end of semester party in Hank and the Great Glass Elevator), but how she's paying for the rent is never really explained.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Peggy sounds rather displeased when she learns Hank was trying to charge Luanne rent without her knowledge.
    • Dale, Bill and Boomhauer all give Hank a Death Glare after he lets Luanne buy Pops' house considering they planned to buy it themselves.
