Having discovered that Kamen Rider Spectre is his childhood friend Makoto, who had disappeared along with his sister 10 years ago, Takeru questions what happened to him. Likewise, Makoto questions whether or not Takeru knew what his father had been studying in the past. The mystery of 10 years ago lingers over the two Kamen Riders.
Takeru decides to ask the Sage if he knew anything about his father’s studies. As usual, the Sage doesn’t give him any answers. He does offer a hint towards the next Hero though, “He made a vow to collect over a thousand weapons.” However, an anonymous request to investigate the supernatural phenomena at a laboratory may prove fruitful in Takeru’s search for answers.
The laboratory in question belonged to Professor Igarashi, a leading authority in physics who disappeared 10 years ago. It turns out that he was an acquaintance of Takeru’s father, Ryu. Among Ryu’s personal belongings, they discover a photograph of Igarashi with Ryu and Saionji! If Takeru can discover what happened to Professor Igarashi, maybe he’ll be closer to understanding what happened to Makoto.
Meanwhile, a new companion of Aran’s makes his appearance. In addition, Saionji moves onto the next phase of his plan.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Igarashi jumps in the way of Seiryuto Ganma's attack forwards Takeru to safe him. If only he knows Takeru was a ghost...
- Product Placement: Another example to the series itself: there is a huge pile of Kamen Rider Ghost-themed Christmas cards in one of the scenes.
- Take It to the Bridge: The second battle between Ghost and Seiryuto Ganma, what eventually turns into Ghost versus Specter, takes place on a bridge. The bridge itself is referred to as "Gojo Bridge", as in the bridge where Benkei fought his 999 victorious fights before losing to Yoshitsune.
- Traitor Shot: During a flashback, the camera shows Saionji glaring menacing as Ryu and Igarashi talk. We find out later in the episode he betrayed Ryu.
