Recap / Kaeloo S 2 E 42 Lets Play School Run Work Bedtime

Go To

After seeing Stumpy and Quack Quack disparage parents for being lazy, Kaeloo tries to show them what a day in the life of a parent is like.

"Let's Play School-Run, Work, Bedtime" contains the following tropes:

  • Eye Scream: Kaeloo turns on the lights in Stumpy and Quack Quack's bedroom to wake them up. Stumpy, who is in the top bunk and therefore right next to the lightbulb, starts screaming in pain.
  • Instant Waking Skills: Kaeloo wakes up at 5:30, jumps out of bed the moment the alarm clock rings, and even does some exercise.
  • Late for School: Stumpy and Quack Quack are nearly late because Stumpy fails to wake up on time. Miraculously, Kaeloo manages to drop them off on time, but she winds up being late for work as a result.
  • Mean Boss: Mr. Cat to Kaeloo. He accuses her of being a slacker even though she's trying very hard to be a good worker and he fires her near the end of the episode without even telling her why.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Used as a one-scene gag where Kaeloo gets addicted to coffee, which is never brought up again.
  • Noodle Incident: Kaeloo mentions something about Stumpy being kicked out of art class at school. She doesn't say why, and the incident is never brought up again.
  • Troll: The only thing Mr. Cat does in this episode is to annoy Kaeloo and ruin her day for no apparent reason other than to be a jerk.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The plot revolves around Kaeloo trying to teach Stumpy and Quack Quack how difficult a parent's life is by role-playing for an entire day with them as her kids and her as their mom. She then spends the entire day going through all sorts of horrible things, like getting her car towed by Mr. Cat, getting stuck in traffic behind Mr. Cat and getting yelled at by her Mean Boss (also played by Mr. Cat). Finally, at the end of the day, Stumpy and Quack Quack have learned practically nothing because Kaeloo dropped them off at school in the morning, so they didn't get to watch what happened to her.
