Short Summary
Gon and his allies have finally optioned their hunter licenses, though Killua, humiliated by his older brother, returns to his family home on Kukuroo Mountain. Determined to see Killua, Gon sets off towards the mountain to find him.
This Arc Contains Examples Of:
- Anti-Climax: Their arc is built up like a Rescue Arc, prompting Gon and his friends to save Killua from his psychotic family's imprisonment. Then the father of the family lets him go, and the ultimate "climax" of the arc ends in Gon playing a game with the family butlers.
- Blood Oath: Silva nicks on his thumb and makes Killua swear on their blood that he won't betray his friends before letting him go. Whether he is sincere on this or if it's an elaborate plan to make him come home is up in the air.
- Rescue Arc: Subverted. Silva just lets Killua go.
- Torture Is Ineffective: Killua is locked up in a dungeon for many days as punishment for his rebellion with Milluki acting as his torturer. He lets himself be whipped around while not really bothered by pain since he's used to it, even after Milluki whips and burns his skin, and easily destroys his shackles when Zeno lets him go.
- Wax On, Wax Off: Zebro trains the main trio this way by making them wear really heavy weights and live in the servant quarters where everything is extremely heavy like a teacup weighting 10 KG. He makes them do household chores to develop their strength to push the doors open, which they were able to succeed in the next few weeks.
