When Louis and Jessica decide to open the restaurant on Thanksgiving Day, Emery and Even start considering their future in the business. Meanwhile, Jessica teaches Eddie about hard work.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Eddie has figured out exactly how much work he had to do in Eighth Grade in order to pass, and after doing it, refuses to do any more due to potential employment caring more about high school and college. The teachers admit he's correct, but are terrified that this mindset will spread to other students and break the educational system, while Jessica takes it as an insult.
- Cool and Unusual Punishment: Jessica's initial attempt to get Eddie to relent and do more homework is confiscating his entire bed, as a show of how his "comfortable" lifestyle won't last forever.
- Family Business: Jessica tries to scare Eddie into working harder by saying his expected inheritance of Cattleman's Ranch is not guaranteed, which Evan and Emery overhear and assume to mean they should start preparing to inherit it instead. Louis is thrilled that all of his sons are considering it an option, and is insulted when Jessica states she wants them to do better in life.
- Loophole Abuse: In The Tag, after Jessica tells Eddie her Revenge by Proxy plan, Eddie relents and does his "Family Tree" assignment...but rather than his own family, he does a presentation on the relationship between the members of N.W.A.
- Revenge by Proxy: At the end of the episode, Jessica concludes that nothing she can do will change Eddie's (accurate) mindset about hard work...so she announces to the diners at Cattleman's that their meals are free for the holiday, and tells Eddie it's because his most likely future is inheriting the business if she doesn't do her best to tank it.
- Rigged Contest: Jessica attempts to rig a raffle for a turkey at Cattleman's Ranch, so they can refund it (and also don't have to actually kill it). However, she gave the winning ticket to Eddie, who's sleep-deprived after losing his bed, and thus another ticket has to be picked when he's too tired to answer.
