Louis and Jessica Huang are asked to help the school by either making a cash donation, or volunteering as teachers, with both of them immediately picking the latter. Louis becomes the coach for Eddie's basketball team, but disappoints them. Meanwhile, Jessica is in charge of the school play Emery and Evan are in, which she retools to be about how acting is a useless career.
- A Degree in Useless: Jessica sees no value in acting, so when she's in charge of a bunch of actors, she makes the play about how they'll go broke and starve while doctors and lawyers will thrive.
- Imagine Spot: When Eddie brags to his friends that Louis used to be a basketball player himself, it's depicted as an over-the-top martial arts fight. Later, when they decide to play dirty against an opposing team to keep their dignity, there are some exaggerated gags (such as a pale-skinned player actually blinding some opponents when light shines on his skin) that soon turns out to be just the kids retelling the story while eating at Cattleman's.
- Random Events Plot: In-Setting, the play that Jessica is supposed to supervise is about "freedom of expression". It's shown at the end, after Jessica relents from her "actors are useless" views, and is just the kids in costume dancing and shouting at random.
- The Unintelligible: One of the girls in the play has a rather strong lisp, to the point that Jessica can't understand a word she says.
