Recap / Frasier S 10 E 05 Tales From The Crypt

Go To

Two battles of pranks are touched off at Halloween: one between Frasier and Bulldog, and another between Gertrude and a neighbor's son.

Tropes:

  • Chekhov's Gag: Frasier's bumper stick proclaiming "I like opera and I vote!", which he eventually ends up sticking on Bulldog's back while he's unaware.
  • Enemy Mine: It at first appears that Frasier's zombie prank goes horribly awry, but when Frasier's friends worriedly check on what's happened, it turns out that Frasier was so fed up with them mocking his lame prank ideas that he worked with Bulldog to prank them.
  • Manchild: Gertrude gets into a prank war with a little kid. In the end, the kid's parents come around to the Montana to make him apologize, and Niles and Daphne treat Gertrude like she was their kid.
  • Poke the Poodle: Frasier's initial idea for getting back at Bulldog is to tie a red balloon to his car every time the Seahawks lose a game, in the hopes that Bulldog will eventually come to associate red balloons with loss and defeat. He even draws up sketches of the balloon and a crying Bulldog.
  • Prima Donna Director: Frasier's still learnt nothing over the years. He scolds his "zombies" for not being convincing enough, scolds Roz for hiring them, and then gives everyone character essays as homework.
Frasier: I am getting "dead" from you. But I am not getting "undead".
  • Suddenly Shouting: Martin indulges in this when he gets fed up with Frasier's overly-nitpicky ways. It might actually be the loudest he ever gets on the show.
  • Watch the Paint Job: Bulldog's first prank is convincing Frasier he has destroyed his prized BMW. Frasier claims he wasn't fooled for a moment, but the recording of his melodramatic wailing says otherwise.
Frasier: [on tape] My car! Oh no, my caaaar! What did they do to you?! Oh my bay-beeeee...!
