The Case of the Liquorice Shoelaces is the 20th episode in Series 5 of Fireman Sam.
While Dilys is trying to replace the battery in her smoke alarm, Norman and Mandy try to work out why the liquorice shoelaces are going missing.
Tropes:
- An Aesop: A smoke alarm is useless without a battery to power it. Always make sure yours are working.
- Damsel in Distress: Dilys gets trapped inside her loft when it catches fire, and Sam has to rescue her.
- Not Me This Time: While Norman has nicked sweets from his mam's shop in previous episodes, this time he didn't, but Dilys still believes he's the one taking the liquorice shoelaces (shoestring licorice for those in North America), when it was really Dusty the whole time. Subverted at the very end, as it turns out that Norman did actually take some shoelaces.
- Shout-Out: Mandy has a Sherlock Holmes set that she and Norman use for their investigation.
