The Owl of Minerva is the fifteenth and final episode of the third season of Father Brown.

When a fugitive takes sanctuary in St. Mary's and asks for help, Father Brown is stunned to realize that the man in the confessional is Inspector Sullivan.


Tropes:

  • Clear My Name: Inspector Sullivan is framed for murder. After breaking out of gaol, he is forced to team-up with Father Brown and his associates in order to clear his name.
  • Janitor Impersonation Infiltration: Sullivan and Sid pose as window washers in order to break into the police station.
  • So Much for Stealth: The 'stepping on a twig' version happen to Inspector Sullivan, as he is sneaking up on a secret meeting being held by Father Brown. Fleeing, he runs straight into the murderer.
  • Undercover Cop Reveal: Father Brown and Inspector Sullivan are cornered by the murderer and another member of the conspiracy, only for the other member to turn out to be an inspector from Special Branch who arrests the murderer.
  • Underside Ride: Inspector Sullivan clings to the underside of the van that is supposed to be transporting him to prison.
