Recap / Empath: The Luckiest Smurf - The Legend Of The Wild Smurf

Go To

The main timeline story in which the Smurfs meet Wild Smurf, which is mostly adapted from the 1980s cartoon show two-part episode "Smurf On The Wild Side". After years of hearing about the legendary 'wild Smurf' that appeared here and there in the Smurf Forest, the Smurfs finally meet him in person when he rescued them from being captured by the evil wizard Severus. Being this Smurf to be Tracker's long-lost brother who was abandoned in the forest when he was an infant, Papa Smurf sends Empath, Tracker, and a few other Smurfs into the forest to see if they can find the 'wild Smurf'. Upon encountering him in one of Severus' traps and rescuing him from it, they bring him into the Smurf Village where he is given the official name of Wild Smurf.

This story provides examples of:

  • Berserk Button: Wild gets mad if you call his squirrel friend Chitter a pet.
  • Dirty Mind-Reading: Smurfette is not pleased to find out Empath has been sensing that Smurfette wanted to have an... intimate encounter with Wild.
  • Freudian Slip: This conversation, which is copied over from "Empath Goes Wild":
Smurfette: Oh, Smurflings, do you know where Wild smurfed off to this morning?
Snappy: We were wondering that ourselves, Smurfette. He probably smurfed off into the forest with Nat very early.
Smurfette: Oh, dear, and I was going to smurf him on a picnic sometime today, just he and I alone together.
Slouchy: Who wouldn't? I mean...it's too bad he won't be home for a while, though.
  • Insistent Terminology: Chitter isn't Wild Smurf's pet, he's Wild's animal companion.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Wild starts to speak in primitive Smurf after Empath telepathically enables him to through a mindlink.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: In this adaptation of the story, Severus, Jeanty, and Rascal play roles similar to that of Gargamel, Scruple, and Azrael, respectively.
  • Urban Legend: Wild Smurf has been treated as this by his fellow Smurfs prior to his official introduction.
