Recap / Digimon Ghost Game E65 "The Black Death Zone"

Go To

All internet signals are turned off all over the world, and people had to resort to using analog phones as communication, and Digimon are appearing in the real world by the droves no matter the size, race, or level. Meanwhile the protagonists, Hokuto and a group of Digimon discuss a solution to the problem, before the protagonists jump into the Digital World with help from Kuzuhamon. When they go in, they find out that the Digital World is twisted into a hellscape where the trees are discolored in black and purple, the water is polluted and the Digimon that failed to get into the human world in time become berserk monsters with red eyes and GulusGammamon's color scheme. Kiyoshiro then steps into a field of rafflesia flowers and goes insane, infecting TeslaJellymon, Ruli and SymbareAngoramon too. A black-colored, Out of Character Rafflesimon then pops up, consumes Kiyoshiro and TeslaJellymon, finishes off Ruli and SymbareAngoramon, and announcing her plans to gain immortality by consuming Digimon and humans. She effortlessly spores Hiro and HoverEspimon too, then overwhelms Siriusmon only for GulusGammamon to offer himself to her so he could destroy her from the inside, expelling all the victims and leaving her to rot. As they find Saberdramon within her body, the protagonists and the black avian Digimon enter a ruined city where BloomLordmon stops them.

  • Back for the Finale: Many former Digimon of the Week return in this episode to discuss about the Digital World and the black corrosion. Emma Hanes, the victim of the week in Episode 43, also makes a cameo.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends when the protagonists meet BloomLordmon.
  • Mythology Gag: Just like in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, the Digital World is where the final encounters take place, rather than the setting itself.
  • Out of Character Is Serious Business:
    • Rafflesimon are not supposed to be Immortality Seekers and are actually stated by SymbareAngoramon to be quite noble. It's all-but stated that this one was a victim of the Jet-Black Champion's wrath like the Dagomon before her and the Kuwagamon and Brachimon seen a while ago.
    • Before Rafflesimon appears, the protagonists spot a Brachimon fighting a Kuwagamon, which according to SymbareAngoramon and TeslaJellymon, is not normal because Brachimon are gentle Digimon and not rampaging monsters, and it's rare to see wild Digimon attacking those of a level higher than them.
  • The Reveal: Bokomon was actually lying to the kids when he tells them about how entering the Digital World will dissolve a person. It's to discourage them from finding out.
