A fated reunion between childhood friends leads Akira Fudo to follow Ryo Asuka into a veritable den of iniquity. When demons appear and go on a rampage, Akira will become one himself as a matter of survival... but will Ryo's machinations result in Akira becoming the most powerful demon of all?

  • Adapted Out: After Ryo rescues Akira from the gang, they don't drive to his house anymore; they head straight for where the Sabbath is being held.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Akira and Ryo get this twice.
    • First is during the brief flashback of their childhood, which gives the viewer a glimpse of their core personalities: Akira is compassionate and emotional, whereas Ryo is apathetic and acts on logic.
    • And the cut to the present shows more aspects of their personality. Akira is meek and sweet-hearted, while Ryo is calculating and kind of (literally) trigger-happy.
  • Establishing Series Moment: The entire episode counts as one for the anime, especially the second half, as the episode makes clear that the series will hold absolutely nothing back.
  • Mythology Gag: Some of the scenes in the Sabbath mirror that of the original manga and OVAs.
    • Ryo claims that to attract the demons, a place must be rife with both depravity and blood, the latter which he gets by attacking people with a broken bottle.
    • While attempting to avoid getting beaten up, Akira runs right into a girl's bare chest, who mocks him before he gets beaten up again. The same girl is the first to get possessed and transform into a demon, complete with her breasts turning into monsters with mouths.
  • Slasher Smile: As seen in the page image, Akira sports a terrifying one right as the episode ends.
  • R-Rated Opening: More accurately, "R-Rated First Episode". While the entire series as a whole is R-rated, this episode hammers home why that is the case as soon as the second half of the episode rolls in.
  • Title Drop: The episode's title comes from Ryo shouting that he needs Akira's help as he zooms down a dark highway.
