Osiris, the notorious warlock and Ikora's mentor, has been exploring the realities in the Infinite Forest, a Vex construct intended to explore outcomes of different timelines. He discovers that the Vex are on the verge of a particularly dark future where they reign supreme and sends his Ghost, Sagira, out of the forest to get help. The likelihood of properly navigating the forest is infinitesimally small, but your Guardian must work with Ikora to stop the Vex planet core Panoptes and save Osiris.

Curse of Osiris contains examples of:

  • Bonus Dungeon: In a first for the franchise, the Raid Eater of Worlds takes you back to the Leviathan and you travel to a new place in the underbelly. The first half has you fight Cabal until Calus calls off the attack and direct you towards their engine room, as the Planet Eater inadvertently sucked in the Vex Planetary Core for Nessus, Argos, which was giving the ship troubles. Besides having a Vex boss, it had nothing to do with the campaign story.
  • Grand Theft Me: Sagira's core shell was damaged, and she ends up taking over the shell of the player's Ghost and doing all regular ghost functions. Ghost is described as asleep and doesn't quite understand what happened.
  • Ignored Expert: Osiris became ostracized from the Vanguard because of how adamant he was about the Vex being the most dangerous threat they have to face.
  • Time Stands Still: In the opening cutscene, Osiris is watching the Vex battle Guardians in a simulation but is capable of freezing the simulation so that he can casually walk around blaster fire. The discovery that the Vex recognize his presence and resume regular speed kicks off the story.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: It's all contained to the Infinite Forest but your Guardian explores the past, present and future of Mercury in a linear order to the player but nonlinear to where you end up.
